Kofuku-ji-temple has been as an ancient hermitage since the Middle Ages. The temple was founded in 1659 as the Soto sect by Gyudo, a priest of Genshu. The main statue is Amitabha Nyorai. The main hall and the residence were built in 1782 by the 10th abbot, the temple gate was built in 1782 by the 11th abbot Tetsugen, and the drawing room was built in 1974 by the 17th abbot. Many people went to zazen under the direction of the late Master Tetsuo Takei, and after his relocation, the zazen group has been continued to the present day.
